Triumphs and Challenges of HRMS in Comprehensive Pesticide Residue Screens
Laboratories can no longer rely solely on triple-quadrupole instruments for rapid, single-injection, easy-to-manage analyses. Researchers compared the quantitative performance of HRAM Orbitrap-based mass spectrometry with that of triple quadrupole MS.Results conclude a high-degree of agreement between the high-resolution instrument and the existing gold standard platform used for quantitation for pesticide residue analysis.

Investigating Yeast Products in Sparkling Wine Production
A team of researchers in Spain has examined the use of commercial yeast products in the production of white and rosé sparkling wines. Using a range of analytical techniques, including gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the team examined four yeast autolysates to find out how they affect the chemical composition, foam, and sensory properties of sparkling wines aged on lees for nine months. |
