Event Overview:

Lyophilization or freeze drying is a well established process in manufacturing of sterile injectable products. The Lyo cycle involves freezing, primary drying and secondary drying. Development of a lyo cycle and understanding of heat and mass transfer under different load conditions is critical in development of a robust lyophilization process. The understanding of the complexity of the lyophilization process and its impact on product quality and process performance is essential for successful lyophilization. The knowledge of how to control, adjust or tweak the freezing step will help to develop more efficient lyo cycles and biopharmaceutical products with an improved stability.

The webinar will focus on establishing a lyophilization scale- up model that is aimed to demonstrate the full scalability between lab and production lyo in order to allow to perform the development or optimisation of a freeze-drying cycle in the pilot freeze dryer with significant cost savings.

Key Learning Objectives:
  • Development and/or optimization of a freeze-drying cycle
  • Critical parameters to consider in lyophilization cycle development
  • Understand and resolve scale-up challenges
