Milton Lee on the Potential of Thermal Gradient Gas Chromatography (TGGC): Part II
First developed in the 1960s to reduce peak broadening effects, thermal gradient gas chromatography (TGGC) is now being re-examined. In these three new videos from LCGC TV, Milton L. Lee from Brigham Young University discusses the application areas of TGGC, the “peak sweeping” approach, and whether or not the technique is ready for industry. More... |

Monitoring High Blood Pressure Treatment with HPLC–MS–MS
3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine MDMA (also known as ecstasy) is a widely available synthetic psychoactive drug that can contain a wide range of impurities and cutting agents. Two researchers from Michigan State University (Michigan, USA) investigated the effect of liquid–liquid extraction (LLE), headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS–SPME), and different gas chromatography temperature programmes highlighting the need for standardized procedures. A Method for the Rapid and Simultaneous Analysis of Sweeteners in Various Food Products Using the ACQUITY H-Class System and ACQUITY QDa Detector |
Mark Benvenuti, Dimple Shah, and Jennifer A. Burgess, Waters Corporation
The European Union (EU) Directive 94/35/EC, along with four amendments: 96/83/EC, 2003/115/EC, 2006/52/EC, and 2009/163/EU restrict the level of sweeteners in specific types of food. The EU Commission Regulation 1129/2011 lists the maximum level of the sweeteners permissible in various food products. Hence the determination of the amount of these sweeteners in foods is also important in order to ensure consistency in product quality. Learn more |
