Fibromyalgia: Filling in the gaps in knowledge and clinical practice
Fibromyalgia (FM) is an overwhelming debilitating illness that is not well understood among the medical community. Physicians report being frustrated by a lack of knowledge about FM, not being able to answer patients' questions, and the lack of treatment options. Primary care clinicians are in a key position to recognize and treat patients with FM. Incorporating a stepwise approach when treating patients with fibromyalgia will aid clinicians better manage patients. Accordingly, CME can provide the knowledge platform for primary clinicians that is necessary to fill the gaps in knowledge and clinical practice, allowing them to provide the best possible care and improve overall outcomes for patients with FM.
