Clinical Challenges in the Management and Treatment of Osteoporosis
Ten million Americans have osteoporosis and 34 million more people have low bone mass. One in two women over age 50 will have an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetimes.  Osteoporosis is often underdiagnosed. Only one-third of women at high risk of fracture are told that they have osteoporosis.

This webinar features five case presentations focused on clinically-challenging situations involving osteoporosis, looking at diagnosis and prevention, treatment decisions, and long-term patient management.

Upon completion, participants will be able to evaluate the importance of specific risks factors such as age, gender, and race on the overall development of osteoporosis; discuss the impact of low vitamin D levels in patients with osteopenia and osteoporosis; develop strategies to combat common reasons for nonadherence to bisphosphonate therapy; and determine specific circumstances where a drug holiday may or may not be appropriate in patients being treated for osteoporosis for more than five years.
